Draymond Green isn’t just making noise on the court, he’s also making noise off the court. Green had six points, eight rebounds and 16 assists in the Golden State Warriors 129-98 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers last night. But, it was more so the postgame press conference that Green made headlines with.
Andre Drummond, who is normally the starting center for the Cavaliers, was benched yesterday because of the rumors that he is on the trade block. Drummond is averaging 17.5 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game this season, and is averaging the second most rebounds in the NBA.
Green saw how Drummond was being treated and decided to give his opinion on it in the postgame presser. Green talked about the double standard in the NBA between the players and the organizations. Green stated that players are constantly ridiculed and castrated when they demand trades, but when organizations publicly say they want to trade a player and bench said player, no one bats an eye.
Green gave examples like James Harden, Harrison Barnes, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kyrie Irving as players who have been ridiculed by the media and fans. Green is getting tired of the organizations not getting any punishment for wrongly treating their players.
Green wants the players to have the same respect that the organizations do, and for the players not to be judged for every little thing. Green has really stepped forward as a leader this season, not only in the Warriors locker room, but also around the entire NBA.
