It hasn’t been a Heisman-type season that a lot of people expected from North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye but the Tar Heels’ signal-caller is still playing very well.
On Saturday, Maye has the Tar Heels leading Pitt in the second half on the road in UNC’s first Atlantic Coast Conference game of the year. Despite a slow start, trailing 14-7, the Tar Heels turned it on in that first half to take a lead into the break. And a big reason why is because of Maye.
The quarterback accounted for two first-half touchdowns, rushing for one and throwing for another. The one he threw for was a little special as he lofted it with his left hand as he was being brought down by a defender:
Hey @PatrickMahomes,
Thoughts on @DrakeMaye2's lefty touchdown throw? pic.twitter.com/ZhbSAqUYgK

As the UNC Football program pointed out in the tweet, that was a Mahomes-esque throw from the quarterback and one that was awesome to see. It was also another play that shows Maye’s skill set overall and the type of career he’s having at North Carolina.
