Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is interested in doing things very few quarterbacks have ever done before. In 2019, the 37-year-old veteran led his team in rushing yards, and only Lamar Jackson matched him in that particular feat. Fairly impressive on Fitzpatrick’s part, as he isn’t exactly known for his wheels.
On Thursday night, Fitzpatrick also completed a pass to himself — the throw was deflected by rookie linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson, and Fitzpatrick took the deflection and started rumbling downfield.
Ryan Fitzpatrick threw two touchdown passes, rushed for a touchdown and COMPLETED A PASS TO HIMSELF in that game. Just give him the MVP now please. #Dolphins #Jaguars pic.twitter.com/jS5wKkJFv9

Per ESPN Stats & Info, it’s not the first time Fitzpatrick has done it.
From @ESPNStatsInfo: That's the 3rd time in his career Ryan Fitzpatrick has completed a pass to himself. That completion to himself could be meaningful. Fitzpatrick has completed 90% of his passes tonight, and if it stands, would be best in Dolphins history (min. 20 attempts).

Fitzpatrick did indeed complete 18 of 20 passes on the evening, so he broke that particular team record.
But wait — there’s more!
Ryan Fitzpatrick is the 2nd player since at least 1948 to have 2+ pass TD, 1+ rush TD, 20+ rush yds, and a reception in a single game.
The other? HOF Walter Payton, in Week 3, 1983 against the Saints #TNF

Any time you can get yourself compared to Bob Griese, Dan Marino and Walter Payton in the same game, you’re shooting way below par.
When we call him “Fitzmagic,” this is why.
