The next few weeks will be very important for Scott Forbes and the North Carolina Tar Heels baseball program. While the Diamond Heels are projected to be in the field for the NCAA tournament, a bad week and rough stretch could do damage to their chances.
However, they got off to a great start on Thursday night for the final two weeks.
After falling behind 5-0 in the first inning, it looked like a game the Tar Heels could be blown out in. But the Diamond Heels rallied scoring four in the bottom of the third to trim the lead to 5-4. The Wolfpack scored one in the fourth and fifth, while UNC added one in the fifth as well.
However, it was the eighth and ninth inning that proved to be the difference.
UNC trailed 8-5 going into the eighth the Diamond Heels scored two in each of the final two frames. That included a walk-off squeeze bunt as you see below:

The walk-off moved UNC to 31-17 and 12-11 in ACC play, keeping their hopes alive in the Coastal Division.
The two teams will conclude the series on Friday and Saturday.
