When the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs meet, because of the camaraderie between Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes, the games are more of a collaboration than a rivalry.
Case in point: on a third-and-10 from the Texans’ 44-yard line with 12:15 to go in the second quarter, Watson rushed for six yards. As the two-time Pro Bowler ran out of bounds, he took a seat next to Mahomes on the Chiefs’ bench.
Earlier in the week, Texans coach Bill O’Brien said having Watson and Mahomes in the NFL makes for “an exciting time in this league.”
“These two guys are just great players, very, very dynamic players,” O’Brien said. “I think that it’s always interesting how the schedules are made that this is the game that opens up the season, especially with what’s gone on.”
Texans fans are hopeful Watson gets the best of Mahomes, friends or not.
