Colorado women’s basketball is going dancing.
While it was never really in question, the 2021-22 Buffs officially received their invitation to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday evening. The Buffs were given a No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 Creighton on Friday in Iowa City.
The selection marked the first since 2013 for Colorado.
“There is really nothing that compares to seeing your name actually pop up,” head coach JR Payne said. “In fact, when the Buffs popped up, I think the black and gold kind of shook everybody for a second. We’re just really honored and excited for the opportunity.”
Payne’s 22-8 Buffs are coming off a semifinals loss to No. 2 Stanford in the Pac-12 semifinals. But as winners of eight of their last 10 games, CU holds a good deal of momentum heading into its biggest game of the season. And, not to mention, plenty of experience in big games playing in the six-bid Pac-12.
As expected, the dancing Buffaloes were dancing when they discovered their name was called during a live viewing of the selection show:
