With the Jacksonville Jaguars in Indianapolis Colts’ territory, safety Nick Cross came up with a big interception on a downfield pass from Trevor Lawrence.
With it looking like the Jaguars were on the cusp of adding to their 13-10 lead, Lawrence tried to push the ball upfield to Brian Thomas, who he connected with on a downfield touchdown pass earlier in the game.
It was an ill-advised throw by Lawrence, but in part, that’s a credit to Cross for how well he defended Thomas when he entered his zone. Also close by was Julia Blackmon providing help over the top.
Crossed him up.

The Indianapolis offense took over at their own two-yard line and, unfortunately, in what is admittedly a difficult spot of the field, would go three-and-out.
Despite the uncertainty around the safety position during training camp, Cross has put together a very good start to the season.
This is the second turnover that the Colts defense has generated today. The other was a forced fumble by Jaylon Jones. This interception by Cross has been one of the few bright spots for the Colts’ secondary today, with Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence putting together a very efficient performance.
