Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz returned to practice Monday for the first time since undergoing surgery on his foot during the first week of training camp.
Head coach Frank Reich told the media on Sunday that Wentz is expected to get in some limited work as he prepares to make his return, but it appeared as though he was moving pretty well during the sessions available to the media.

It was also noted that Wentz took all of the first-team reps during the 7-on-7 drills, which is something to keep an eye on. If the Colts were afraid to push him, they’d likely keep him out of team drills. But if he continues to progress, Week 1 is certainly in the team’s sights.
Reich mentioned that Wentz would ideally get two weeks to prepare for the Seattle Seahawks in the regular season opener. As long as there are no setbacks, he may get an additional week on top of that.
How Wentz responds to his first day back will be crucial, but this is an encouraging sign for his return early in the season.
