The Kansas City Chiefs shared a little teaser of their first-round draft pick in action on Saturday afternoon.
As the Chiefs begin their acclimation period in training camp, the team will participate in one hour each for conditioning and on-field training. They’re also permitted a one-hour walkthrough during the first four days, which increases to 75 minutes on the final four days of the acclimation period.
On Saturday, the team shared a quick look at rookie RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire taking a hand-off from Patrick Mahomes. It’s really the first glimpse that Chiefs Kingdom has seen of their first-round draft pick in action Mahomes and Edwards-Helaire seem to be working on a draw play drill during the on-field training portion of practice.

This isn’t actually the first time that Mahomes and Edwards-Helaire had a chance to work together. They did get a private workout together during the offseason so that Edwards-Helaire could get used to playing with Mahomes.
“Really, most importantly, the first thing that we wanted to get down was just simply to work on the little things like timing,” Edwards-Helaire said. “And that was the biggest thing, just getting comfortable with even pulls and passes. And everything else, as far as getting comfortable standing next to Pat (Mahomes).”
It looks like the comfort and timing is coming along just fine between these two Chiefs in the early days of training camp. It’ll only improve as Mahomes and Edwards-Helaire continue to work together ahead of the 2020 NFL season.
