WATCH: Chance Main hang cleans an absurd amount of weight

Chance Main performed a hang clean with an absurd amount of weight earlier this week

There is an intimidation tactic in sports that you put your most physically imposing bodies at the front of the bus so that those players are the first ones your opponents see. Chance Main has transformed himself into one of those players this offseason for Colorado.

In April, Main posted an update on his offseason work, showing off a bulked-up frame with about 30 additional pounds. The 270-pound Main (he may even be larger at this point) then recommitted to the Buffaloes and is now competing for a starting spot along CU’s revamped D-line. If his work in the weight room is any indication, Main will be on the field plenty next year.

On Monday, Darius Sanders posted a video of Main in Colorado’s weight room performing hang cleans with what appears to be four plates on each side of the bar, which would be over 400 total pounds.

Will it translate to the football field? Count BuffZone’s Brian Howell among those who believe Main will have a breakout 2023 season.
