When the Washington Football Team selected Ohio State defensive end Chase Young No. 2 overall in the 2020 NFL draft, they expected an immediate impact.
Boy, did Young deliver.
The 6-foot-5, 264-pound Young delivered 44 tackles, 7.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one touchdown. His presence led to a breakout performance from second-year defensive end Montez Sweat as Washington finished the 2020 season with a defense ranked No. 2 in total defense.
Young would go on to win the NFL defensive rookie of the year as he helped lead Washington to a surprise NFC East title.
Young’s first season featured plenty of highlights. In a late-season win over San Francisco, Young had a season’s worth of highlights in that game alone. Young scored his first career touchdown in that game.
So, in honor of Chase Young’s 22nd birthday on Wednesday, we take a look back at his highlights from an amazing rookie year.
Happy birthday, Chase.
Enjoy.
