This game began with four straight drives for touchdowns. Two for the Raiders and two for the Chiefs. The Raiders’ next drive would stall near the goal line and they would settle for a field goal to take a 17-14 lead.
After that, it was the teams swapping drives that ended in punts. But the Chiefs got the ball back with 1:24 left in the second quarter, looking to tie it up or take the lead heading into the half.
They drove to the Raiders’ 14-yard-line with 0:30 seconds left in the first half, so it seemed inevitable they would at very least tie it up and with the way they were moving the ball, had plenty of time to finish it off for a touchdown.
Trayvon Mullen had other plans. He stepped in front of a goal-line pass for Demarcus Robinson and picked off the Patrick Mahomes pass.

How unexpected is this? It’s just the second interception Mahomes has thrown all season. The previous one was courtesy of Jeff Heath in the Chiefs’ first meeting with the Raiders to help the Raiders secure the win.
This one is equally important as it kept the Chiefs from scoring before the half and then getting the ball back to start the third quarter with a shot at doubling up scores. If they could do that after the Raiders previous drives ended with a field goal and a punt, that would be a big momentum shift.
