A year removed from leaving Michigan State and going to the NBA, Cassius Winston still roots from afar and keeps track of Spartan basketball 24/7. Winston joined ESPN College Basketball to talk about the Spartans’ loss to UCLA, the difference between the regular season and March Madness, the end of last season and other topics.

Winston acknowledged it was rough that he couldn’t be there to help out and support them. He also noted that it was tough watching them from the screen and that he “thought they were going to handle it.” Winston admitted he was “turnt up at the TV” during the game. He felt like he was on the sidelines and locked into the game.

Winston when asked about the difference between the regular season and tournament he replied and said “it’s crazy.” He basically summed it up as “everything is on the line; this is what you’ve been playing for all season.”

When they brought up last season and how it was cut short due to the coronavirus, Winston tried “not to dwell on things out of his control.” He added “there’s always going to be a future me wondering what that last ride would’ve been like.”
