Sometimes an athlete just needs one big play to get on track. After two-straight weeks of offensive struggles, the Philadelphia Eagles and their beleaguered quarterback Carson Wentz might have finally gotten that one big play. Trailing the Cincinnati Bengals before halftime, Wentz connected with wide receiver Greg Ward Jr. to change the game in an instant:

This is an aggressive read and throw from the quarterback. Cincinnati looks to be playing a Cover 2 scheme to that side of the formation, with corner playing down in the flat and a half-field safety aligned in a two-deep technique. That opens up the “Turkey Hole” along the outside, which Ward attacks on his vertical route. Wentz pulls the trigger, and the Eagles get onto the scoreboard before halftime.
After these past two weeks Eagles fans – and likely the quarterback himself – needed a play like this. As the caption says: “Needed it!”
