WATCH: Boston’s Jaylen Brown scores a career-high 46 points in 2OT season opener loss to New York Knicks

The rising Celtics star put the league on notice, nearly winning Boston to the win.

You could not possibly have asked for more from All-Star Boston Celtics small forward Jaylen Brown in his team’s season opener, with the Georgia native having a career night as he tried to get new head coach Ime Udoka and his teammates in the win column to start the season.

Putting up a career-high 46 points — the most any player has ever put up in a season opener for the Celtics — Brown also logged 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals while shooting an absurd 16-of-30 from the field, 8-of-14 from 3-point range, and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe.

It might not have been enough to get Boston over the finish line in the double-overtime thriller lost to the New York Knicks, but it showed that the Cal-Berkeley product is not a player to be trifled with in the season to come.
