The Boston Celtics went streaking ahead of the 2022 NBA All-Star Game — and no, we aren’t talking about getting on the court in their birthday suits. We are of course referring to the nine straight games they won before stumbling against the Detroit Pistons just ahead of star forward Jayson Tatum‘s trip to Cleveland, Ohio for the annual exhibition game.
The league-leading (at the time) string of wins catapulted the Celtics off the dreaded treadmill of mediocrity and onto the fast track to somewhere just outside the ranks of the true contenders with among the best defense in the league.
And while critics will be quick to point out much of that run was against some of the lighter competition Boston has played this season, that does not explain the team’s wins over the Philadelphia 76ers, the Denver Nuggets, or Miami Heat.
While we wait for the Celtics to get back to padding their winning percentage post-All-Star game, let’s take a look at some of the best plays from that win streak put together by the folks at NBC Sports Boston.
