Former Indiana Hoosiers coach Bobby Knight is reportedly expected to attend Saturday’s Purdue-Indiana game in Assembly Hall, on the day the school honors Knight’s 1979-1980 team, which was led by Isiah Thomas. Knight’s return would be his first appearance in Assembly Hall since 2000, when he was fired by the university.
83-year-old Purdue coaching legend Gene Keady, Knight’s longtime Big Ten rival, is also expected to attend the game. 35 years ago, Keady led his Boilermakers to a 72-63 victory in Assembly Hall on the day that Knight infamously threw a chair across the court after his Hoosiers had been called for three fouls in the span of a minute.
Purdue vs. Indiana will begin at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
