Bo Melton is back…and appears to be playing better than ever.
The team’s leading wide receiver, who missed last Saturday’s home loss to Michigan State, was back and starting for Rutgers (3-3, 0-3 Big Ten) in a big game at Northwestern (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten). He made two big catches midway through the second quarter, a 46-yard yard link-up from Noah Vedral that got the ball to Northwestern’s 38-yard line.
Five plays later, Vedral found Melton wide-open at the back of the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown catch. Melton did a tremendous job of keeping his toes in for a touchdown that made it 7-7 with 8:44 left in the second quarter.
Melton came into Saturday’s game with 24 catches for 253 receiving yards with two touchdowns.

Melton suffered a shoulder injury two weeks ago in a loss to Ohio State. He wore a shoulder sling last week in Rutgers 34-13 loss to Michigan State, now ranked ninth in the latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.
