It’s Boston Celtics legendary big man Bill Russell’s 87th birthday, and the Celtic great celebrated it with a Boston-themed birthday cake complete with a candle for each of his 87 years.
The man himself posted a video of his celebratory cake — as well as the moment he tried to extinguish the copious candles adorning the three-foot long green and white construction. With friend Shawn Kemp Jr. standing by with a fire extinguisher, Russell took a few attempts to put out the lit candles, writing in the post he shared the moment in a few words about his birthday party captured in the clip.
Whew, I made it to 87! I want to thank my wife for another amazing cake & the small forest fire upon it. Thanks @SKJR40 for standing by with the extinguisher just in case, next time bring a cpr kit. @legends_unite #Deepbreath #fridaymorning @BleacherReport @NBA @espn @celtics pic.twitter.com/TscoGkRhxv

Small forest fire indeed.
