The Boston Celtics were poised for a reboot over the summer, but the basketball gods smiled on the team in their moment of need, and former UConn star Kemba Walker joined the team after his former made it clear they were ready to move on.
The Charlotte Hornets’ loss was Boston’s gain, as the Bronx native immediate clicked with his new franchise’s players — first on Team USA, and then as they fought their way back into relevance, then contention.
By Christmas Day, it was clear the Celtics were a force to be reckoned with, and in no small part due to the leadership and cold-blooded shooting of the former Husky.
Earning his fourth All-Star big with Boston, the team looked like world-beaters before the 2019-20 was unceremoniously interrupted by the coronavirus.
So, as with many things in the world right now, the story of Walker’s inaugural season in the green and white remains to be written — we hope — when the NBA resumes activities this summer.
