It wasn’t the best day for quarterback Anthony Brown, but boy did he come up huge with 2:47 left to play.
On a 4th-and-2 on the Fresno State 30-yard line, Oregon decided to go for it. With a jumbo package, Brown ran the option and with a great fake, he kept the ball, broke through the line, faked out a linebacker, and outran the Bulldog secondary into the end zone.
The touchdown gave the Ducks a much-needed 31-24 lead with just under minutes left to play. Before that one play, the Fresno State defense was able to hold the offense in check, but it was clear the Bulldog defenders were tiring out with CJ Verdell able to get big chunks of yardage that eventually led to Brown’s big play.
