Larry Bird, the iconic Boston Celtics forward, lived rent free in the heads of his opponents with the trash talk he laid on them as much as the play he hit them with on both ends of the court. The three-time Celtic champion has a litany of tales told about his ability to give a verbal dressing-down matched with the play to suck the soul out of opponents — and not infrequently his friends in an ostensibly-playful way. The Hick from French Lick had a career like no other, and the smack talk to make it sting even more.
