Watch: Aaron Rodgers sinks clutch birdie putt to win ‘The Match’

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers made a birdie putt on No. 16 to win “The Match” for the NFL MVP and Bryson DeChambeau.

A masterful putting performance by Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, capped off by a walk-off putt on No. 16, helped the NFL’s MVP and Bryson DeChambeau beat Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson in “The Match” on Tuesday night in Montana.

There was no need to think about going for it on fourth down in this one.

After Brady missed his putt on No. 16, Rodgers sank his 10-footer for birdie, giving him and DeChambeau a three-hole advantage with two holes to play. The pair led by at least two holes for much of the back nine.

Rodgers knew the final putt was going in almost immediately, taking a few steps towards the hole before it dropped into the left side of the cup for the win.

The putt provided a fitting end to the contest.

With DeChambeau delivering the approach shots, Rodgers consistently finished on the green. He sank birdie putts on No. 9, No. 10 and No. 11 to open the back nine and create a three-hole lead over Brady and Mickelson, who have won the event previously.

“The Match” was played at The Reserve at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana.
