Should the Boston Celtics make a play for Aaron Gordon? Longtime Celtics broadcaster Sean Grande thinks the Orlando Magic forward is a riskier but potentially higher-upside trade target for the Celtics to consider going after ahead of the 2020-21 NBA trade deadline. While Grande admits perhaps other options are safer, he has a bug in his ear for the Magic star.

Boston could deal for Gordon by using its $28.5 million traded player exception generated by the Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade to the Charlotte Hornets in the offseason. Earning $18.1 million, Boston wouldn’t need to send back salary to complete the deal if it wasn’t desired, but it has established veterans or young players and picks that could entice Orlando.
Check out the video embedded above to see for yourself if you think the team ought to pick up the phone. There are some wrinkles that might need ironing out for the deal to make sense, but Grande might be onto something here.
