As we get deeper into the month of September, high school football is starting to ramp up. That includes the state of Texas where 2022 quarterback commit Quinn Ewers finally is back on the field. Southlake Carroll was in action against DeSoto and Ewers was on full display early on.
The No. 1 quarterback of the class, Ewers committed to Texas early on in the process with another year plus before he can sign his letter of intent. He is the highest rated quarterback to commit to Texas since the legendary Vince Young. At the time of his commitment, he had a perfect rating that has since dropped ever so slightly.
On Thursday night, Ewers was showing off his arm talent. This backfoot throw with a flick of the wrist went 60 yards on target. That was, dare I say, Patrick Mahomes-esque? He definitely has a live arm.

On 4th & 5, Ewers finds his man who gets some big time YAC to put Carroll on the board in the live quarter.

Seeing the top recruit in their 2022 class should give fans a lot of excitement about the future. With his arm talent, the sky is the limit for the Texas offense. Whoever is the quarterback after Sam Ehlinger moves on to the NFL will be put on notice. Ewers is coming in hot to take the starting role at the school he grew up rooting for.
