The UCLA Bruins football program added a huge transfer portal quarterback as Dermaricus Davis joined the program on Monday. And, in a weird turn of events, this is the third Washington QB that has transferred to UCLA in the past few years, as Dan Raley of SI pointed out.
Colson Yankoff, who was initially a quarterback with the Huskies, transferred to UCLA in 2019 before transitioning him to a flurry of other positions. He just was signed by the Washington Commanders as a tight end so his versatility continues.
The other one was Ethan Garbers, who redshirted during the Jimmy Lake era and is expected to be the Bruins’ starting QB for the 2024 season.
Now, Davis comes to Westwood with all four years of eligibility remaining and is expected to be the immediate backup to Garbers. It’s a strange turn of events, but the Seattle-Westwood QB pipeline is continuing to churn.
