Washington Wizards at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Washington Wizards at Golden State Warriors NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Washington Wizards (18-32) drop by Chase Center Friday for a 10 p.m. ET game against the Golden State Warriors (24-27). Below, we analyze the Wizards-Warriors odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Washington broke its four-game losing skid by beating the tanking Orlando Magic 131-116 as a 4.5-point road favorite in All-Star SG Bradley Beal’s first game back from a five-game hiatus.

Golden State just snapped a three-game losing skid by upsetting a Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Milwaukee Bucks team 122-121 as a 2.5-point home underdog. The Warriors are just 2-7 stright up and against the spread in their last nine games.

Wizards at Warriors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wizards 122, Warriors 114

Money line (ML)

Slight “LEAN” to the WIZARDS (+155) for a one-fifth-unit if at all because I “LIKE” Washington to cover the spread and want to sprinkle on the underdog’s money line.

We’ve seen the Wizards get up for big games and even upset some quality opponents such as the Brooklyn Nets (twice), Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets and more. While this isn’t the Warriors of previous seasons, I’d assume Beal and PG Russell Westbrook are amped up for this matchup.

My hesitation is the Warriors need to right the ship if they don’t want to fall out of playoff seeding and, of course, the Wizards are bad.

Against the spread (ATS)

Definitely BET WIZARDS +4.5 (-110) heavier than or instead of Washington’s money line.

Maybe I have a little too much “recency bias”, but this version of the Warriors we’ve seen in recent weeks shouldn’t be laying 4.5 points against anyone.

Golden State’s offense is too reliant on PG Stephen Curry and the defense has the second-highest FTA/FG rate in the Association and is 24th in rebounding percentage.

The Wizards are third in offensive FTA/FG rate and I’d give Washington’s frontcourt the edge over Golden State’s in this game.

Finally, according to Pregame.com, nearly three-fourths of the money is on the Warriors to cover.

This is a good spot to “fade the market” because I don’t think it is properly accounting for how shaky Golden State has looked recently.

BET WIZARDS +4.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the UNDER 239.5 (-110) for a half-unit for a few reasons.

First, the market is hammering the Over but bookmakers have brought the total down from the 240-point opener, which is a red flag.

Also, while Washington and Golden State are first and second, respectively, in pace of play, they don’t execute well enough on offense to bet such a high total.

These teams are neck-and-neck in offensive rating with the Warriors ranked 21st and the Wizards 22nd.
