Washington to host 2028 NCAA Men’s basketball March Madness and Women’s golf

The Washington Huskies were selected to host multiple 2028 NCAA events on Wednesday.

The Washington Huskies, Climate Pledge Arena, Visit Seattle, and the Seattle Sports Commission announced on Wednesday that Seattle has been chosen to host the First & Second rounds of March Madness in the 2028 Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.

In addition, the 2028 Women’s Golf NCAA Regional Championship will be hosted by the Huskies and held at the Seattle Golf Club.

“We are pleased to partner with Climate Pledge Arena and the Seattle Sports Commission to host the First & Second Rounds of the 2028 NCAA® Men’s Basketball Tournament and to also partner with Seattle Golf Club in hosting the 2028 Women’s Golf Regional,” University of Washington Athletics Director Pat Chun said. “Seattle is an incredible city, and we will be a great partner for the NCAA in showcasing these great events.”

“We are ecstatic to be awarded another NCAA championship event in 2028,” said Steve Mattson, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Climate Pledge Arena.

“We think we are the premier sports venue in Seattle and have a proven track record of hosting world-class events our past three years of being open. Our Seattle Center location is ideal for all sports fans from around the country to come to support their teams and take in all Seattle has to offer. Together with our incredible partners organizing these event bids, we know Seattle can expect to participate in elite championships for years to come.”

Climate Pledge Arena is also scheduled to host the first and second rounds of March Madness in 2025, which is scheduled for March 21 and 23. Tournament dates and ticket sales for both 2028 events will be announced by the NCAA at a later time.
