Washington to auction off custom shoes for Go Big campaign

The Washington Huskies will auction off Jedd Fisch’s custom shoes to benefit the “Go Big!” campaign.

As part of the school’s agreement with Adidas, Washington Huskies coach Jedd Fisch has donned custom shoes each week to wear during his team’s arrival and their pregame “Dawg Walk.”

Each signature shoe is hand-painted by former walk-on defensive back Sean Vergara, featuring designs with significance to something around the team. The design ahead of Washington’s Big Ten opener against Northwestern features the conference’s iconic “Maps” commercial, which showcases the unique landmarks of each of the 18 schools around the country.

On Thursday evening, Washington announced that fans will now have a chance to take home a pair of those shoes if they give a gift to the school’s “Go Big!” campaign, which is intended to help fund scholarships, facilities, and student-athlete resources.

“Campaign support ensures that the focus remains on student-athletes with enhanced nutrition, academic services, and mental and physical health support — all essential for fueling their big dreams in the Big Ten,” a press release stated describing the fundraiser.

Vergara painted two pairs of shoes for each game, and one pair has been designated for the school to auction off, with all proceeds going to the fundraiser. Winners will also have an opportunity to pick the shoes up directly from Fisch, who will autograph each pair.
