Washington sits just outside 2024’s inaugural AP poll

The Huskies are on the outside looking in of the initial AP Top 25.

As Jedd Fisch continues to sell his team as the underdogs, he can add the preseason AP poll to the list of rankings that have excluded Washington. Just like in the US LBM coaches poll, the Huskies found themselves once again sitting outside the top 25. If the poll was extended, Washington would be the nation’s ranked No. 32 and No. 7 in the Big Ten.

Five of the six teams ranked above the Huskies in their new conference also show up on Washington’s schedule this season with three of them: Oregon (No. 3), Penn State (No. 8), and Michigan (No. 9) all in the top 10.

While some might consider Washington underrated right now, the Huskies have a chance to move up the rankings early in the season during their nonconference schedule.

If Fisch’s team proves that it can handle business and answer the questions surrounding its offensive line early on, the Huskies could find themselves among the top 25 by the time Big Ten play begins on September 21 when Northwestern travels to Husky Stadium.
