Washington has won a heated West Coast battle for four-star receiver Chris Lawson.
The Archbishop Riordan (California) receiver chose the Huskies over Oregon and California, giving Washington a much-needed win in the 2025 class. Lawson becomes the Huskies’ third-highest-ranked prospect by 247Sports’ rankings, behind linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale and offensive lineman Champ Taulealea.
Lawson is the No. 25 wide receiver in the 247Sports database, and his commitment comes just in time to ease the blow of four-star Donovan Olugbode choosing Missouri over coach Kevin Cummings and the Huskies.
Between Lawson and three-star receiver Raiden Vines-Bright, Washington now has in-house replacements to help replenish the talent pool at wide receiver. The Huskies sent three players to the NFL this offseason and will lose seniors Jeremiah Hunter and Giles Jackson after the season. Denzel Boston, the presumed No. 1 target this season, could also elect to declare early for the NFL Draft.
Lawson’s commitment brings the Huskies to 21 recruits in 2025, eight of whom hail from California. His announcement also gives the Huskies the nation’s No. 17 class.
The 6-foot, 180-pound receiver is a potentially elite separator with fantastic run after the catch potential who should make an impact for the Huskies sooner rather than later.
