The Washington Huskies were looking for some veteran experience and leadership in the secondary for the 2024 season and turned to transfer portal safety Justin Harrington to provide it. After spending four seasons at Oklahoma and two seasons at the junior college level, the 6-foot-3, 209-pounder spent just one year in Seattle before deciding to enter the transfer portal again.
Harrington was able to retain a season of eligibility after the NCAA’s ruling on junior college years not counting toward time spent at the Division I level and will play his eighth season of college football elsewhere.
In his one season with the Huskies, Harrington played in eight games, mainly on special teams, and recorded 3 tackles. Instead of the veteran, defensive coordinator Steve Belichick and safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri continually opted for younger players at the position, turning to redshirt freshman Vincent Holmes in dime packages over the veteran.
He becomes the fifth member of Washington’s secondary to enter the transfer portal, joining cornerbacks Elijah Jackson, Curley Reed, and Darren Barkins, as well as safety Tristan Dunn.
