The Washington Huskies added a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Lowen Colman-Brusa on Thursday, who is a promising prospect that brings a lot of upside to offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll’s offensive line.
That might not be the only thing he brings with him, as his younger brother Derek, received multiple crystal ball predictions from 247Sports’ national recruiting analysts to commit to Washington within minutes of his pledge.
Derek is one of the most sought-after targets in the 2026 class and is ranked as the top player in the state, as well as the nation’s No. 17 edge rusher and No. 142 overall player by 247Sports. As a rising junior, he holds 13 offers from some of the nation’s top programs, including Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, and USC.
The younger Colman-Brusa is a lot of fun to watch on film. When he lines up on the interior, his first step is too quick for most high school guards, which leads to him getting into the backfield untouched routinely. At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, he also does a good job setting the edge and plays with an encouraging amount of strength.
His best feature might be his motor, because when combined with his athleticism, Derek doesn’t look like an edge rusher when chasing down plays that are on the other side of the field.
If coach Jedd Fisch and defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi can lock down an early commitment from the younger Colman-Brusa, it would be a significant recruiting win Washington hasn’t seen since the early days of Chris Petersen. Assuming Derek follows in the footsteps of his brother and four-star linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, his pledge would mark the first time the Huskies have reeled in the top in-state prospect in back-to-back recruiting classes since 2014 (Budda Baker) and 2015 (Henry Roberts).
