Washington Huskies outfielder Brooklyn Carter entered the transfer portal on Wednesday night, marking the eighth member of coach Heather Tarr’s team to enter the transfer portal since their season ended without an appearance in the NCAA Regional finals for the first time in 20 years.
Carter, a sophomore from Inglewood, California, started 35 games for the Huskies last season, primarily in center field, and was a reliable leadoff hitter. She batted .316 on the year and is well-known in the Pac-12 for her elite speed and finished tied at No. 3 in the conference with 21 stolen bases.
She was a perfect 21 for 21 on the basepaths this year and took a big step forward in her second year on campus after being named to the All-Pac-12 Freshman Team in 2023. Carter tallied 37 hits out of the leadoff spot, including 4 doubles and 9 runs batted in.
If Tarr is unable to retain Carter and a few of the players who entered the transfer portal over the last week, then she will end up rolling out an entirely new starting lineup in 2025, with first years Giselle Alvarez and Jadyn Glab as the only returning contributors.
