Washington offers Minnesota commit as search for OL reinforcements continues

The Washington Huskies offered one of the top players in Oregon who has made a pledge to Minnesota.

Jedd Fisch’s offensive scheme works best behind a strong offensive line and his coaching staff is ensuring it does everything in its power to rebuild Washington’s trenches after winning the 2023 Joe Moore Award.

After losing a few top targets, like four-star Douglas Utu to Tennessee and three-star Darius Afalava to Oklahoma, offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll has had to pivot to finish out his class. On Friday, he extended a scholarship offer to three-star offensive lineman Zac Stascausky, who announced his commitment to coach P.J.Fleck and Minnesota in June.

The 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive tackle is a product of Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon, and is ranked as the No. 5 player in the state by 247Sports, and is considered the nation’s No. 75 offensive tackle prospect.

At the time of his commitment, he picked the Golden Gophers over 11 other offers including Arizona, California, Oregon State, and UCLA. As the Huskies move into the Big Ten, Carroll understands that building an offensive line with top-end talent and strong depth is critical for success in the new conference.

While it remains to be seen if the coaching staff can get Stascausky or one of their other targets to flip at this point in the cycle, one thing is clear, the Huskies want to add at least one more offensive line prospect to the 2025 class.
