Washington offers junior college All-American offensive tackle

The Washington Huskies have turned to one of the best junior college tackles for potential offensive line help.

After left tackle Chris Adams flipped his commitment from Washington to Memphis, the Huskies are exploring all options for extra help along the offensive line. On Tuesday, coach Jedd Fisch and offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll extended an offer to Iowa Central Community College product Maximus McCree.

McCree played both 2020 and 2021 at Iowa Central and was honored as an NJCAA All-American in both seasons before he committed to Maryland. He played in 2 games with the Terrapins during the 2022 season before returning to the Tritons last year.

Now, ready to make the jump back to Division I once again, the 6-foot-6, 285-pound McCree has become a priority target for Washington’s coaching staff as it searches for a few more pieces to build experienced depth along the offensive line, especially at left tackle.

Freshmen Soane Faasolo and Elishah Jackett showed they have a lot of developing left to do before they’re ready to see the field and while 2024 signee Justin Hylkema has the ideal size for the position, he will have a lot of ground to make up when he arrives for Washington’s LEAP program in June.

McCree, who has three years of eligibility remaining, should be on campus for an official visit as soon as this weekend after receiving offers from Central Michigan, Houston, and Florida Atlantic over the last week.
