When three-star athlete O’Lontae Dean arrives at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday as part of his official visit with the Iowa Hawkeyes, he’ll also be keeping a close eye on coach Jedd Fisch’s Washington Huskies. On Thursday, just before the Huskies got on the plane to make the trip to Iowa City, Fisch’s coaching staff extended an offer to the 6-foot, 200-pound prospect from Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida.
Dean stars on both sides of the ball for his high school, playing wide receiver, running back, and linebacker. He was very productive in 2023, accruing 612 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense, along with 44 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions on defense.
His future appears to be on the offensive side, perhaps at running back, as his film displays a talented athlete with great vision who can make plays anywhere in the formation as both a runner and pass catcher.
After the NCAA expanded a team’s allotted scholarship limit from 85 to 105, running backs coach Scottie Graham could be looking for another prospect to add alongside three-star commit Julian McMahan.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 116 athlete and No. 141 prospect in Florida, Dean has been able to collect an impressive offer list and holds 19 scholarships. Along with the Hawkeyes, he’s received interest from Iowa State, Louisville, Ole Miss, and LSU.
