Nationals at Braves: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Erick Fedde vs. RHP Kyle Wright

Fedde has managed a 1-1 record with a 2.55 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 17 2/3 innings over two starts and three relief appearances so far this season.

  • Fedde is coming off his most impressive outing of the season, working 5 1/3 scoreless innings of relief with two hits and three walks allowed in a win at the Baltimore Orioles Friday.
  • Fedde threw 39 of his 69 pitches for strikes with a wild pitch and 13 first-pitch strikes to the 21 batters he faced last time out.

Wright is 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA, 2.20 WHIP and 12 strikeouts across 15 innings over four starts.

  • Wright has struggled mightily this season, allowing 17 hits while also issuing 16 walks in his 15 innings. The good news is that he has allowed just two homers in his four outings.
  • On a positive note, Wright allowed five hits with four walks in 3 1/3 scoreless innings in his only appearance at home this season against the New York Mets back on Aug. 2.

Prediction

Nationals 9, Braves 6

Moneyline (ML)

The NATIONALS (+120) are again underdogs – they won as +110 dogs Tuesday. Wright has been abysmal for the Braves (-134), so you cannot back the home side here. Roll with the defending champs yet again.

A winning $10 bet on Washington returns a profit of $12, while the Braves fetch a profit of $7.46 on a $10 wager if they’re victorious.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The NATIONALS (+1.5, -167) are a little expensive, but taking them on the run line with a little extra insurance isn’t a bad play. Fedde has been a little inconsistent, although nowhere near as shaky as his counterpart Wright.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 10 (-110) has cashed seven in a row for the Nationals, including 5-0 in the past five as an underdog and 4-0 in the previous four against NL East foes. The Over is also 5-1-1 in the past seven for the Braves vs. RHP, while going 5-2 in the past seven inside the division.
