Washington moves up a spot to No. 21 in latest NFL Power Rankings

Despite a 14-point loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Washington did enough on Sunday to hold steady in the low-20s in USA TODAY’s power rankings

The Washington Football Team lost by 14 points to the Baltimore Ravens, yet they still managed to move up one spot in USA TODAY’s Touchdown Wire Power Rankings, coming in at No. 21 in the post-Week 4 edition.

Before you wonder how this is possible, realize first that both the Oakland Raiders (2-2) and Tennessee Titans (3-0) have been dropped to No’s. 31 and 32, respectively, due to their inability to follow COVID-19 precautions, putting other teams at risk.

Despite the obvious move up for that reason, it’s not unlikely that Washington would have hovered around a spot in the low-20’s regardless of who filled out the bottom rungs of the power rankings. Though they were technically blown-out by the Ravens, a number of solid takeaways could be had from their game, mainly where Antonio Gibson and Terry McLaurin put on a show, helping to realize the young building blocks that this team has.

With a game against the Los Angeles Ram — who come in at No. 7 in the power rankings — this weekend, it will be a tough test for Washington in their quest to get back on top of the NFC East division, but an upset win isn’t completely out of the question.
