We questioned a couple weeks ago whether or not Washington may need to make a change at the kicker position sometime in the near future, with veteran Dustin Hopkins struggling a little bit early on this season. Now it looks like that decision might be made for them, with Hopkins missing multiple days of practice this week due to a groin injury.
On Thursday, coach Ron Rivera stated that Hopkins would need to practice either on Friday or Saturday in order to be good to go on Sunday. He missed Friday’s practice, so it will likely come down to whether he is good to go on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Washington protected practice squad kicker Kaare Vedvik, so they are clearly preparing for a contingency plan should Hopkins not be able to go.
