This week, Washington veteran linebacker Thomas Davis Sr. will be playing his last regular-season NFL game ever, and potentially the last game of his career.

Davis announced his intentions to retire after the season on Instagram Tuesday, posting a picture of a pair of cleats that list some of his accomplishments over his 16-year career. After a long and successful stint with the Carolina Panthers, Davis has spent time with both the Los Angeles Chargers and Washington Football Team over the last couple of years.

The past season has likely not gone as expected for Davis in Washington, where he was expected to be a valued member of the defense who helped transition a young core into the league. Instead, he has missed a number of games and failed to produce much on the field, with only 6 tackles in 7 games played.

Davis will end his career as a three-time Pro-Bowler, and the 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year.
