Washington LB Jordan Whitney enters transfer portal

The Washington Huskies lost some depth at linebacker with redshirt freshman Jordan Whitney entering the transfer portal.

Washington Huskies redshirt freshman Jordan Whitney has officially entered the transfer portal. The three-star prospect from Oxford, California was an early enrollee in 2023 but didn’t see any action during the team’s run to the national championship.

He struggled to break into the linebacker rotation during spring practice and spent some time working with the strength and conditioning staff off to the side with other players who were recovering from apparent injuries.

Whitney played all four years on varsity for Pacifica High School as both a linebacker and a running back. During his senior season, he accrued an impressive 140 tackles and was ranked the nation’s No. 51 linebacker by 247Sports when he committed to Kalen DeBoer’s coaching staff over 10 other offers, including one from Jedd Fisch and the Arizona Wildcats.

Washington’s linebacker room is very deep, headlined by four seniors: Carson Bruener, Alphonzo Tuputala, Bryun Parham and Drew Fowler. Position coach Robert Bala also has Arizona transfer Anthony Ward, redshirt freshman Deven Bryant, who hasn’t practiced all spring due to a foot injury, and true freshman Khmori House, who has played well after enrolling early.

Known for his impressive athelticism, Whitney should have plenty of teams vying for his services in the transfer portal.
