Washington injury updates following Week 4 win vs. Falcons

Washington had several injuries on Sunday.

The Washington Football Team survived a shootout with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday to improve to 2-2 on the young season. However, Washington could have lost much more as several key players went down with injuries during the course of the game.

Tight end Logan Thomas pulled up in the first quarter while he was downfield and immediately called for a trainer. Thomas grabbed his hamstring and was visibly frustrated. Washington almost immediately ruled him out for the game.

After the game, head coach Ron Rivera said regarding Thomas:

“The only thing I really know about Logan is it’s a hamstring,” Rivera said about Thomas.

Another player who went down was All-Pro guard Brandon Scherff. Rivera said he should know more on Monday regarding the severity of the injury.

“The only thing I know about Brandon is we’ll find out more when we get back to Ashburn.”

Hamstring issues are tricky. Thomas could be back next week, or it could linger for many weeks. That’s a significant loss.

As for Scherff, he went down with a knee injury and immediately went into the locker room. Obviously, that’s another major blow for Washington, and the team hopes it receives good news on Monday regarding the anchor of its offensive line.

Other players who left the game were wide receivers Dyami Brown and Cam Sims, linebacker Jon Bostic and running back Antonio Gibson. Rivera didn’t offer updates on any of these players, but he will likely will on Monday.

Gibson was on the injury report as questionable for Week 4 with a shin injury and he looked fine throughout the game. It appeared that he took a shot to the ribs.

As of now, it appears Thomas and Scherff are the biggest concerns for Washington.

We’ll keep you posted after Rivera speaks on Monday.
