It appears the Washington Huskies are adding another member to their support staff, as head coach Jedd Fisch and special teams coordinator Jordan Paopao have officially hired Bailey McElwain to a “top special teams analyst” role according to Football Scoop.
McElwain worked with Paopao during his time at UCLA and spent the 2023 season as Austin Peay’s co-special teams coordinator and running backs coach. While hiring a special teams analyst isn’t always noteworthy news, McElwain has received a lot of buzz in coaching circles, and was named to the Our Coaching Network’s 2024 “30 Under 30” list which scours the college football coaching community for up and coming young coaches.
Before an injury derailed his career, McElwain played fullback for two years at Vanderbilt, recording 6 receptions for 35 yards in his career. He was named to the Freshman SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2016 and also coached at Jacksonville State and UNLV following his coaching career.
Now, Fisch will be turning his attention to a linebackers coach as he is still looking to add the final position coach to his 2024 coaching staff.
