Washington EDGE Jayden Wayne enters transfer portal

The Washington Huskies saw another edge rusher enter the transfer portal on Friday.

According to a report from Rivals’ Adam Gorney, the Washington Huskies saw former highly-touted recruit and local product Jayden Wayne enter the transfer portal on Friday morning.

A four-star prospect in the 2023 class, the edge rusher from nearby Tacoma started his career at Miami and played one season for coach Mario Cristobal before choosing to return home for the 2024 season to play for Jedd Fisch in the Big Ten.

In one year with the Huskies, the 6-foot-6, 262-pound Wayne played in 11 games and recorded 6 tackles as part of a deep rotation at the position. With his departure, the Huskies could see an increase in snaps for rotational players Jacob Lane, Russell Davis II, and incoming transfer Ta’ita’i Uiagaleilei at the position in 2025.

Wayne becomes the third scholarship player at the position to enter the transfer portal for Washington, joining Lance Holtzclaw, who committed to Utah, and Maurice Heims.

With Wayne’s departure, the Huskies could be looking to bring in one more player at the position. UNLV’s Fisher Camac could be considered a name to watch. He has the ideal size, at 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, and athleticism to take over in the role Wayne played, along with the production after recording 7.5 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss for the Rebels in 2024.
