The Washington Football Team will be without a key defender on Sunday at Buffalo. Defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis did not make the trip to Buffalo and is out on Sunday, per JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.
Washington DT Matt Ioannidis is OUT for Week 3 vs Buffalo, per source. He didn’t travel with team as he’s been dealing with knee trouble since Week 2 win over New York.

This is a mild surprise as Ioannidis injured his knee in the Week 2 win vs. the Giants. He left the game but did return. Washington also received a couple of days of extra rest due to playing on Thursday night.
However, Ioannidis did not participate in practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday and was listed as DNP on Friday.
Through two games, Ioannidis has four tackles. He has yet to record a sack. Ioannidis missed most of last season with a bicep injury.
In response to the move, Washington elevated Daniel Wise from the practice squad to the main roster for Sunday’s game. Washington didn’t make a corresponding move because the roster had remained at 52 players.

Wise signed with Washington in January. He has spent time on the practice squads of the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals. He has yet to appear in an NFL game. He had some impressive moments this summer in the preseason.
