After his most recent performance against Segerstrom High School, four-star Washington Huskies tight end commit Vander Ploog looks like he might be ready to join Jedd Fisch’s team before its next game against the Michigan Wolverines.
Ploog put together an exceptional 12-catch, 190-yard, 4-touchdown performance in a 42-10 win for Troy High School and showed off all the reasons that tight ends coach Jordan Paopao made him a priority on the recruiting trail.
Vander Ploog had himself a night last night! 12 receptions for 190 yards and 4 touchdowns in Troy’s 42-10 win over Segerstrom on Friday. At 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, Ploog has an elite frame for his position and also possesses impressive athleticism that allows him to line up all over the formation and make plays after the catch. He’s an adequate route runner who does a great job of tracking the ball and should have an opportunity to play early when he arrives in Seattle.
His big game also shows why the Huskies need to do everything in their power to hold onto his commitment, as schools like Alabama and Oregon have taken an interest in his services in recent weeks.
Ploog took an unofficial visit to Washington for the team’s Big Ten opener against Northwestern, and combined with four-star commit Baron Naone, could become an exciting pass catcher on Montlake in short order.
Wrapped up preseason with the squad, pulled in 42 catches for 700+ yards and 12 touchdowns through first 5 games. @RudyAlcalaQB1 has been balling out and we are excited to keep working! @ThsWarriorfball @GregBiggins @ChadSimmons_ @TEAMTOARECRUITS @BlairAngulo @adamgorney pic.twitter.com/CcfhKHDKel
