The Washington Capitals (31-18-9) travel to meet the Edmonton Oilers (30-23-4) at Rogers Place Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we look at the Capitals vs. Oilers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.
The Capitals won the front-end of the Alberta two-step when they bumped off the Calgary Flames 5-4 Tuesday. They now face a quick turnaround with a short jump to Edmonton less than 24 hours later.
The Oilers surprised the Capitals 5-3 in Washington, D.C., Feb. 2. Edmonton hopes it’s a case of Groundhog Day, and that it can win again on home ice. The Oilers have dropped three of their last five against Eastern Conference teams while losing four of five overall.

Capitals at Oilers projected goalies
Ilya Samsonov (17-9-3, 2.93 GAA, .901 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Mikko Koskinen (19-9-3, 3.05 GAA, .904 SV%, 1 SO)
Samsonov heads into this one with losses resulting from his last three starts, but it hasn’t been all his fault. He has allowed a total of nine goals during the three-game span, while the offense has averaged just 1.7 goals per game.
Koskinen dropped his most recent showing Monday in Calgary as he allowed 3 goals on 29 shots. He is 1-1-1 with a 2.34 GAA, .930 SV% and 1 shutout in three March outings. Koskinen was in between the pipes Feb. 2 in Washington and allowed 3 goals on 27 shots in the 5-3 road victory.

Capitals at Oilers odds, lines, picks and predictions
Prediction
Capitals 4, Oilers 3
Money line
The CAPITALS (+110) are looking for a little revenge after that February loss at home to the Oilers, and they’ll get that Wednesday. Edmonton has won just once in its last six tries against winning teams and just once in its last five games overall.
Against the spread
The Capitals +1.5 (-270) are just way too expensive at this price, costing over two and a half times your potential return if you just want a little insurance. If you like the Caps, just play them straight up for a much better value.
PASS.
Over/Under
The OVER 6.5 (-105) is the slight lean here, especially since the Caps have finally snapped out of their funk with an average of 4.7 goals per game across their last three contests. The last time these teams played in Washington we saw a total of 8 goals.
