Washington brings local linebacker home from transfer portal

The Washington Huskies added another linebacker transfer on Saturday afternoon.

Xe’ree Alexander is coming home.

A product of Kennedy Catholic in nearby Burien, Alexander entered his name into the transfer portal after one season at Central Florida, and announced his intentions to spend his two remaining years of eligibility with his hometown Washington Huskies and coach Jedd Fisch on Saturday.

The younger brother of former Washington receiver Lonyatta Alexander started his career in 2023 at Idaho, where he totaled 75 tackles, 4 for loss, 2 forced fumbles, and a pass breakup. Then in 2024 with the Knights, he tallied 68 tackles, 6 for loss, and 2 pass breakups in the Big 12 Conference before choosing to enter the portal once again.

That makes half of a recent statement from running back Jonah Coleman true, as the star running back took to social media on Friday night in a live video to share what was coming next with Husky fans.

“We got a linebacker from Florida coming in,” Coleman said. “We got [Washington State] bruh coming.”

While that could mean several things from Washington’s in-state rival, including linebacker Taariq Al-Uqdah or defensive tackle David Gusta, the first part of Coleman’s statement is a solid addition for the Huskies.

With a season of Power 4 play under his belt, Alexander should be expected to start alongside Arizona transfer Jacob Manu and bring the veteran presence coach Robert Bala needs to his promising yet young and inexperienced room.
