Washington basketball rolls over Western Oregon 105-68 in exhibition

The Washington Huskies started the Danny Sprinkle era off on the right note.

Even though it won’t count toward his record, the Washington Huskies started Danny Sprinkle’s tenure on Montlake on the right note in an exhibition game against the Division II Western Oregon Wolves with a 105-68 victory inside Alaska Airlines Arena.

With forward Great Osobor limited to just 17 minutes by an illness, finishing with 12 points and 8 rebounds on the night, former Butler guard DJ Davis led the way for the Huskies, finishing with 16 points. He went 4-for-9 from behind the three-point line as his team shot a modest 8-for-25 from deep.

Freshman guard Zoom Diallo led the Huskies in minutes and lived up to the billing of his former top recruit status. The Tacoma product finished the night with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, and although he didn’t find his name in the starting lineup, as those duties went to North Dakota transfer Tyree Ihenacho, Diallo looks primed for a critical role in his first season.

Another player to keep an eye on is sophomore forward Tyler Harris, who added 20 minutes off the bench and looks like a weapon. He contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds, and the Portland transfer’s elite wingspan should help him develop into one of the Big Ten’s best defenders.

Now, the Huskies will prepare for the start of the regular season, which kicks off on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7:00 p.m. as the UC Davis Aggies come to town.
